Another year has gone….
The winter holidays are already long gone, we all got back to our activities in the stressful environment of our offices where we spend most of our time, an important part of our life. Meetings, deadlines, things to do, lack of time are invading our lives, making us forgetting what we really like, who we really are.
From time to time, memories are coming through my mind, reminding me of the past holidays.
After the beautiful Christmas we had in Wien last year, we decided to spend Christmas in Prague this year.
So, the 24th December, early in the morning we were on a flight from Milan to Prague. We were surprised to discover this beautiful city, testimony of a great history and mixture of various civilizations. The architecture, made us believe we were in Austria, the food, in some of the eastern european countries, some of the shops, in Milan.
We were surprised to see how, before Christmas, the Czech people were mourning the death of their president. There was a sign of consideration everywere towards the one who was a great person for his people.
It was amazing to see how the tourists were lighting candles in the Wenceslas Square. Really impressive.
A sign of love….
Prague is home to a number of famous cultural attractions, many of which survived the violence and destruction of twentieth century Europe. Among these I would mention:
The Charles Bridge
Prague Castle
Old Town Square
Czechs seem to be big lovers of music: the perform on the bridge, in pubs, on the street
View from the bridge
Prague sites many buildings by important architects, many statues and monuments that prove the Czech history, their religion, a mixture of tradition and modernism.
The Prague Astronomical Clock situated in the Old Town Square is the oldest clock in the world still working.
Czech tradition is unaltered but the influence of the other cultures is welcome as well.
The traditional food and the well known Czech beer definitely made our stay pleasant. If you happen to go to Prague you must try the delicious Medovnik ( Honey Cake)
Cheers!
